Pick up the fallen pieces
Try to rebuild the broken frame
Around a tattered painting
Of our reality
Swirling hues of black and grey
Dance on the matted canvas
A dark depiction of the
Life that we all deserve
We built this with our hands
Our blood, our fear, our lies, our selfish want and callousness
This is who we are
Each brush stroke a scar on the face of the world
A play on light and colour
To mask the form that's underneath
It is no accident
The truth is so hard to see
Lifetime spent in torment
To shape this horrid tapestry
Every decision made
Led to this tragedy
We dare not look away
For fear of what will take its place
For fear of what we can't unsee
We built this with our hands
Our blood, our fear, our lies, our selfish want and callousness
This is who we are
Each brush stroke a scar on the face of the world
We could try to cover it with something less abhorrent
We could try to tear it down but the mark remains
There is no shade dark enough
To stop the stain from bleeding through
There is no shade bright enough
To cover up the horrid truth
We are what we create
Our actions speak of our hate
But it is not too late
To face our reflections
You choose the colours and the shape
How deep the layers go
Cover up your mistakes with happy accidents
With every change that you make
The guide lines disappear
And the scene you create becomes your legacy
Each brush stroke a scar on the world
This is the end of us if we can’t fight back
This is our final countdown
We built this with our hands
Our blood, our fear, our lies, our selfish want and callousness
This is who we are
Each brush stroke a scar on the face of the world
